Donald W. Trussell, Jr.
WHITEFIELD, Maine — Donald Wilson Trussell, Jr., 72, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 in the Augusta Rehab Center, Augusta, Maine.
He was born Feb. 3, 1945, a son of the late Donald Sr., and Emily (Emerson) Trussell. He graduated from Gardiner Area High School, class of 1964. He was a Connecticut resident from 1967 to 1998 when he returned to Maine. He was a retired mechanic, and an avid drag racer for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and restoring a 1950 International Harvester Truck. Donnie was a member of Gassah Guys Racing Club, and a tech guy at Winterport Dragway for many years. His love for racing will be remembered by all.
Donnie is survived by two daughters, Dawn Donnelly and her husband, Michael, of Durham, Conn., and Vicki Bird and her husband, Michael, of Deland, Fla.; three grandchildren, Marisa Doyon, Lauren Donnelly and Zachary Bird; six siblings, Joan Marston, of Gardiner, Nancy Jewett husband Curtis of Pittston, Louise Yeaton husband Francis of Richmond, Stephen Trussell wife Debbie, Brian Trussell wife Lucille, Wayne Trussell wife Kathy all of Pittston; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and many friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Augusta Rehab Center, Eastern Ave., Augusta. And a special thank you to Jenna, Rachel, Joel, and Paster John of Beacon Hospice for the special care and tenderness they showed our father during his stay.
A celebration of Donnie’s life will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Faith Christian Church Hall, 280 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, Maine.
