Hubert Bernard Goggin
Pittston – Hubert Goggin, 92, passed away at the Maine Veterans’ Home on Saturday, 20th with his family by his side.
Hubert, “Pop” was predeceased by his loving wife, Carrie, beloved son, Hubert, Jr., and son-in-law Brian Mason.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Mason Goggin of Pittston, Hedy Curtis and her husband Ken of Pittston and Florida, granddaughter Kaela Curtis and her husband Gavin Little-Gill of Hanover, Mass, grandson Justin Curtis and his partner Diane Plante of Pittston, granddaughter Desi-Rae Severson and her husband, Dwayne of Pittston, grandson Joshua Mason of Randolph, great-grandchildren Brooke Curtis and her partner Tim Wood of Fayette, Sierra and Elsa Little-Gill, Keanen Bowden, Lucy Severson, and great-great-granddaughter, Ella Wood.
Pop was born in Randolph on June 9, 1925. In 1943 he enlisted in the US Army, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign during WWII. He worked for over 40 years at Central Maine Power Company as a draftsman and surveyor (crew chief), and after retirement, at the age of 73 was called back in to work during the ice storm of 1998 where he continued working for an additional 3 years.
Pop enjoyed family camping trips and driving his Gold Wing motorcycle throughout the United States with this wife, missing only three states. He was an ardent hunter, especially hunting deer, and enjoyed fishing and going for lengthy car rides throughout Maine. He and his wife were two of the original volunteers at the Gardiner Food Bank and continued there for over 30 years.
As requested, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service and celebration will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 27th at Christ Episcopal Church in Gardiner.

We want to sincerely thank all the staff of Company C at the Maine Veterans’ Home for their compassion and care of Pop.
A graveside burial with full military honors will take place in the Spring.
