Lewis Raymond FullerOctober 8, 1932 ~ September 30, 2017 (age 84)
Lewis Raymond Fuller, 84, of West Gardiner, Maine, passed away at home on September 30, 2017, after a long illness, with his family by his side. Lewis was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and boating. He also enjoyed farming and took great pride in providing for his family.
Lewis enjoyed a good joke and loved to make people smile. Many close friends called him the candyman for his giving of candy in hopes of making their day better.
Lewis above all enjoyed every minute he had with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a hard working man all his life and retired from the University of Maine in Augusta. Lewis was involved in many organizations through the years, a member of the Rod and Gun Club of West Gardiner for many years and was involved with the NRA Hunter Safety Program of which he was honored by the State of Maine Inland Fishery and Wildlife Agency for his many years of service. He was a member of the West Gardiner Historical Society and cubmaster for Pack 613.
Lewis was one of ten children and was predeceased by his parents, James and Viola Fuller, brother George Fuller, three sisters Nancy Morang, Clara Perry, Doris Bennett and in laws Paul and Alice Huff.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pauline Fuller, his two children Jennie Myers and Raymond Fuller, his grandson Ted Getchell and granddaughter Christine Fuller, as well as his great grandchildren, sisters Florence Perkins, Gertrude Emery, Elaine Denham and Effie Wharten, and one brother James Fuller. He is also survived by his fishing partner and great friend Robert Grant, along with many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the hospice team and his weekly caregiver Patty for all their wonderful support.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine, from 11:30 to 1:30 , followed by a funeral service. Burial will follow the service in the Cherry Hill Cemetery in West Gardiner.
