Lorraine (Gilson) BakerDecember 15, 1929 ~ September 4, 2017 (age 87)
Hallowell-Lorraine Gilson Baker, 87, of Hallowell passed away September 4, 2017 at Woodlands Assisted Living in Hallowell with her family by her side.
Lorraine was born in Gardiner on December 15, 1929 the daughter of P. Henry and Lillian Lessard Gilson.
After College Lorraine married her high school sweetheart Jake and her life blossomed from there, they married in 1950. As a school teacher she was able to raise her six sons spending summers on Cobbossee Lake. After retiring from teaching she and Jake bought Boynton’s Market in Hallowell and after 17 years of hard work she and Jake spent winters in Florida traveling and summers on the lake where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Parish, St. Joseph Church in Gardiner.
She was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Baker in 1997 and her husband Earl (Jake) Baker in 2007and daughter in law Jean Lawrence Baker in 2012.
Lorraine is survived by her 5 sons Michael Baker, Gregory Baker and wife Susan, and Stephen Baker all of Pittston, Matthew Baker and his wife Tammy of Gardiner and Richard Baker and partner Tony Sousa of Hallowell, 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and special cousin Kay Beaulieu.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday Sept 10th from 2 to 4pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday Set 11th at 10am at St Joseph Church in Gardiner. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Gardiner
