Melvin E Ranks

Randolph- Melvin E Ranks, 90, of Randolph died peacefully at CMMC in Lewiston on September 10, 2017. Born in Randolph on April 24, 1927, he married Marjorie in June of 1945 and for 71 years was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, father-in-law, and friend to all. In earlier years Mel and his family spent every weekend at the family camp on Embden Pond fishing, boating, and camping always doing things together as a family. In the fall Mel loved to deer hunt at camp with his brothers, sons, and friends. Mel was a legendary great shot with his 32 Winchester Special and many family photos show everyone processing the many deer that were shot. I later years he enjoyed rabbit hunting with his sons and grandsons.

Mel was predeceased by his wife of 71 years Marjorie, daughters Judith (2007) and Peggy Devins (2014). He is survived by sons James and Richard, daughter in laws Paula and Jeannine, son in law Brian Devins, grandchildren Becky Dodge, Bethany Richmond, Mark Ranks, Tony Ranks, and Josh Ranks, brother Alton Ranks, sisters Marjorie Kittredge and Mary Small, many great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

At Mel’s request there will be no services except for a small graveside service to be held Tuesday September 19th at 11am at the Maple Grove Cemetery Annex in Randolph.

Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner
