Wanda Lee EldridgeFebruary 10, 1949 ~ August 8, 2017 (age 68)
Wanda Lee Eldridge passed away on Tuesday August 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, after a short courageous fight with Lung Cancer. She was born in East Vassalboro Maine on February 10, 1949, daughter of the late Archie and Mavice Goodale.
She is survived by her son Joel and his wife, Geneva, of Augusta; four grandchildren, Erin Gleason, Dustin Eldridge, Marissa Eldridge and Adrien Tourtelotte; great grandson Colt Nadeau, two sisters, Cheryl Yale and husband Paul of Parkman, Linda Richards of Vassalboro, brother, Don Goodale and wife Betty of East Benton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was pre- deceased by both her parents, her brother BillyGoodale, sister Sandy Hann and her loving husband Joel Charles Eldridge of 38 ½ years.
Wanda married Joel Eldridge on August 2, 1969. Wanda ran several businesses including running her own catering business. She ran several snack bars in State Buildings and the 2 snack bars at Reid State Park. Wanda and her Husband Joel loved traveling and lived in Maine, Arizona, and Thailand for 8 years.
Wanda was a proud member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 2 of Augusta, of which she is a twice past District President, as well as Department Chaplin. Wanda is a 31-year life member of American Legion Auxiliary. She also was a life member of the V.F.W. Unit 887, Grand DuMaine La Femmens, and a past member of The Eastern Star.
Following the death of her husband Joel she moved to New Smyrna Beach in Florida. She loved the Quail Hollow community she lived in where she made so many cherished friends. She taught water aerobics twice a week and was president of the social club.
Wanda is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grand mother, sister and aunt. Her last months were cherished by her as she was smothered with love by her son, daughter in-law, grandchildren and immediate family members. She will be greatly missed by all.
Burial will be graveside at 12 p.m. section A at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.on Friday, August 18th There will be a celebration of life directly following at the American Legion Post 2 at 294 Capitol Street. in Augusta.
