April 28, 1949 ~ December 8, 2017 (age 68)

John Francis "Bamp" Lasselle Jr.
1949 - 2017
PITTSTON - John Francis Lasselle Jr., 68, of Pittston, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at the VA Togus, after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
He was born on April 28, 1949, the son of John F. Lasselle Sr. and Louise Astle Lasselle.
He graduated from Gardiner High School in 1967 and joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. In 1970, John married Becky Rediker and from that point on, family was his No. 1 priority.
A close second priority was a passion for helping others in his community, from coaching Little League baseball in the 1980s, to endless devotion to the Gardiner Sports Boosters in the late 1980s into the 1990s, and the MSAD 11 School Board.
He was self-employed as a carpenter for many years and worked in many homes in the Gardiner area.
In his free time, John loved to take trips to camp in The Forks area. From hunting and fishing to whatever work project was required, we always heard, "It's so beautiful up here."
Shortly after his children became adults, grandchildren became his next priority and how he did love his four grandchildren. Called "Bamp" by most, he will be missed by many. He taught us the importance of loving your family and helping those in need.
John was predeceased by his parents, John F. Lasselle Sr. and Louise Astle Lasselle; his in-laws, Gaynol "Red" and Babette Rediker; his sister, Joann; sister-in-law, Melinda Rediker; and brother-in-law, Mark Kimball.
John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Becky Rediker Lasselle, of Pittston; son, Michael Lasselle, and his wife Kelly, of West Gardiner; daughter, Melissa Porter, and her husband Jeremy, of Pittston; four special grandchildren, Carlee, Camdyn, Logan and Lani; sister-in-law, Debbie Kimball, of Gardiner; and two nephews, Scott McLaughlin, of Gardiner; and Jason Howe, of Missouri.
At this time, a graveside burial will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
