Katherine P (Gero) ChavieNovember 6, 1933 ~ September 19, 2017 (age 83)
Randolph – Katherine P. Chavie passed away on September 19th surrounded by her loved ones. Kay was born in Windsor on November 6, 1933. She was the eldest of 10 children born to Raymond and Edith Gero. Kay was educated in Windsor area schools.
Kay was trained as a nurse and worked in that field for most of her life. She was employed at several public and private medical facilities including Merrill's Nursing Home in Gardiner, the Augusta Mental Health Institute in Augusta and at the Togus Veterans Administration hospital as a phlebotomist. She especially enjoyed her years at the Togus VA hospital where she made many life-long friends as well as "brothers and sisters in Christ".
Kay was the matriarch of her family as well as a trusted spiritual advisor. She was always available to listen to the problems and concerns of her family and to provide council. Kay also delighted in every opportunity to share in her family's triumphs. Kay had both a boundless love and an unyielding loyalty that her family cherished.
Kay is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Lucille, her brothers; Alfred Gero, William Gero and Edward Gero and her sons; Edward Chavie and Robert Lathrop. She is survived by her brothers; Raymond Gero, Joe Gero, Elwin Gero, and her sisters; Inez Clark and Marilyn Yager, her children; Jeannie Piselli, Chip & Inez Kelley, and John Chavie, her beloved grandchildren; Andrew & John Kelley, Olivia Perkins, Michael Piselli, Melissa Lebel, Robbie Lathrop and several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to her niece Lisa Spencer and family friend Diane Greenleaf.
A graveside service will be held on September 23rd at 10:00 am at the Rest Haven Cemetery located on Rte. 32 in Windsor, Maine.
