Welcome to the memorial page for

Lawrence P Farley, Sr

February 3, 1934 ~ January 10, 2018 (age 83)

Gardiner-Lawrence P. Farley Sr., 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 10th, 2018. He was a longterm resident of Glenridge Nursing Home in Augusta where he will be remembered for his love of hymns, sense of humor and chocolate milk.

Larry was born February 3rd, 1934, in Presque Isle, Maine, the son of Archibald and Olga B. (Lathrop) Farley. As a child his family moved to Randolph, Maine where he was raised as one of nine children. He graduated from Gardiner Area High School. Larry went on to join the Army in 1952. Through many years and multiple branches Larry was able to travel the world and serve his country. While stationed in Germany he met his wife, Olga, whom he married in December of 1958. They were married for 57 years until her passing in 2016.

In 1961 Larry retired from the service, settling his family in Gardiner. Larry was a hard-working man, always providing for his family. He quickly became a member of First Baptist Church of Gardiner where he was a Sunday School teacher and deacon. Over the years he cultivated a love for flowers, reading his Bible and listening to hymns.

Larry is survived by his sister, Mary Emery of Randolph along with his children, Sylvia Cunningham and her husband Robert, of Chelsea, Leona Farley of Gardiner, and Lawrence Farley Jr. and his wife Kelley, of Gardiner. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Philip Cunningham and his wife Kathy, of Chelsea, Shannon Cunningham of Chelsea, Aaron Farley of Gardiner, Angela Bronn and her husband Dusty of Gardiner, Samuel Farley of Gardiner and Daniel Farley of Gardiner; as well as two great-grandchildren, Steven Cunningham and Brayden Garland, of Chelsea and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the individuals of Maine General Hospice and Glenridge long term care who provided compassionate, loving care to Larry over the years. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 15th, from 11am to 1pm at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner with a funeral to follow. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery will follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner.
