Roy was born in Augusta, Maine on March 4, 1931 to Elroy and Bessie Bragg.  He grew

up in Vassalboro, where he attended school until he joined the United States Army and served his country for 21 years.  He served with the 74th Engineer Heavy Equipment Company during the Korean War, building airfields in Korea in places such as Seoul, Taegu, Pusan, Taejon and many others.  He received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze campaign stars. In retirement, Roy started growing and maintaining numerous vegetable gardens, which he loved, at his daughter’s farm, Potters Brook Jersey Farm and Greenhouse, in Litchfield.  He developed a market garden stand and greenhouse there, where you could find him sitting in his favorite spot, in his favorite chair watching his gardens grow and spinning yarns with his many customers, who stopped to visit with him.  Roy enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as haying and milking on the farm, hunting and fishing.  He passed his love of hunting and fishing onto his grandchildren.  He married his wife, Lillian Strano, on January 8, 1955 in Trenton, New Jersey, who has been at his side for 63 years.

Roy is survived by his wife, Lillian; daughter Cheryl Reimer and husband, Don; daughter Vicki Russell and husband, Mark; son Dennis Bragg and wife, Sherri; grandchildren, Wendy Real-Spalding and husband, Mark; Ricky Real; Tristan Russell and wife, Aly; Nathaniel Russell; Angelina Chase and husband, Richard; Rachel Bragg; Emily Bragg; step grandchildren Chandra Wilson and partner, Craig; Shanice Mitchell; Olivia Wilson; great grandchildren Jackson; Katarina; Lily; Acadia; Maliya; and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his sisters Louise Howard, Sandy Welch, Gloria Vining and Doris Keller.  He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Edson Bragg; Omer Bragg; Clyde Bragg; Richard Bragg; and sister Muriel Cottle.

A service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Chapel, with full military honors, in Augusta on Wednesday, February 14 at 1pm.
