Madeline (Burke) Macomber, of West Gardiner Maine and Zephyrhills Florida, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2018 in Florida, where she wintered with Wayne her husband of 61 years. In her final days, she was surrounded by family and friends who prayed her out of this world and into the next.
Madeline was born to Beatrice and George Burke, of Randolph, Maine on September 4, 1935. She was one of ten children. She lived in Randolph and graduated from Gardiner High School. Madeline married Wayne, of Pittston on February 23, 1957 and raised two children, Randall and Beth.
She is remembered fondly for many things, one of which was her green thumb, being an incredible cook who made the most fantastic fudge and other delicious treats, her artistic and creative ability in making crafts, and self-teaching herself to play many musical instruments such as the piano, accordion, guitar and the harmonica while entertaining her family with song and singing.
She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend you could possibly ask for who loved her family and grandchildren with deep dedication and was a constant help to others. But perhaps most memorable, was Madeline’s love of God and her devotion to her faith. Through her own faith, she was a guiding light to everyone she met and indeed was instrumental in increasing Heaven’s numbers.
