Walter H Maschino

November 4, 1927 ~ February 12, 2018 (age 90)

Gardiner-Walter H. Maschino, of Gardiner, was born November 4, 1927, in South Gardiner, ME He passed away after a short illness on February 12, 2018 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

He is predeceased by his parents, George Maschino and Doris Gilpatrick Maschino and by his siblings George Maschino III, Ella Davis and Cora Matson, and the he Love of his life Beatrice M. Maschino, and his daughter Linda Maschino.

Walter is survived by his children Joe Maschino and his wife Julie, Terry Maschino and his wife Cheryl, and Bonnie Maschino; by two brothers, Elmer and Richard Maschino, his grandchildren  Lisa and Bob Caron and their children Micaela, Samantha, Isaiah, Alexander, and Beau, of Augusta, Tarsha and Josh Sack and their children Cody, Parker and Joshua of South China, Josie and Rachel Maschino, and their children Tayla and Nikeita of Augusta, Terry Maschino Jr. and Tracey and their children Drew, Cameron, Brady and Adele of Gardiner, Troy and Carmen Hatch and their children Trent and Lily Bea, of Washington, and Erin and Josh LaPierre and daughter Addisyn, of Winterport; and several nieces and nephews.

Walter lived in South Gardiner where he met the love of his life Bea. He served his country in the Army Air Corps in Colorado as a fire fighter, he was employed- by Maine Central Railroad where he retired in 1987 and then enjoyed his retirement for many years.

Walter enjoyed cutting fire wood, riding his John Deere gator, feeding his birds, operating heavy equipment, bowling, visiting and reminiscing with friends. Walter was truly the patriarch of his family. He will be sorely missed by family and many friends and his cat kee kee.

The family of Mr. Maschino wishes to thank the staff at Maine General Medical Center for their excellent care.

The Maschino family invites you to join them in the honoring of Walter. Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Tue. Feb. 20th at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where the funeral will follow. There will be a spring burial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association, and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care; or the Humane Society.
