Ruth ann McAuslin Obituary (1943 - 2013)

Ruth ann McAuslin- Gardiner, 70, of 9 Old Brunswick Road, Gardiner, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at home after a long illness, with her family and friends at her side. She was born in Augusta on April 5, 1943 daughter of William and Norma Weeks Williams. Ruth ann attended gardener High School. She began her career in the 1960’s with the family business, William S. Williams Construction, Inc. She co-founded NRB, Inc, a concrete plant in Topsham, with her mother and sister, Billie Lee Vasoll in early 1980’s. Ruth ann and her sister Billie Lee, along with their husbands, Gary and Rich, purchased William S. Williams Construction from their father in 1985. Ruth ann continued her father’s legacy and his love for the construction business until she retired in 2001. Shortly thereafter, she opened her own scrapbooking business, Stamp-N-Scrap, out of her home so she would be able to take care of her husband of 44 years until he passed away in 2003. Besides scrapbooking, one of her hobbies she shared with her mother was the love of knitting; there are many family members who will feel the warmth of the sweaters she made. She is survived by her children Katrina and her husband Robert Johnson III from Pittston, Gary W. McAuslin and his fiancé Monica Foley of Saco, her sister Billie Lee and her husband Richard Vasoll of Gardiner, brother-in-law Richard McAuslin and his wife Beth of Monmouth, grandchildren Jennifer Johnson and Robert Johnson IV of Pittston, triplets Addison, Aidan, and Haley McAuslin of Saco. Great grandchildren Alyssa M. Olges of Pittston, Isaac E. Johnson of Pittston, a special nephew Jamie Vasoll and his wife Sabrina of Gardiner, Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting hours will be held Friday, November 1st from 10am to 11am at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner where a funeral service will be held at 11am. Burial will follow in the family lot at Oak Grove Cemetery, Gardiner. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Maine, 630 Congress St., Portland 04101.
