Farmingdale Albert N. Tardif, 78 passed away September 26, 2010 at Maine General Medical Center from complications and spirited battles with cancer. Born in Portland, Maine on May 7, 1932 Al was educated in Portland schools a graduate of Deering High School afterward attending and graduating in 1952 from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston. He served in the U.S. Army 1952-1954 with two decorated tours overseas during the Korean Conflict recognized by receipt of a Bronze Service Star. In 1955 he married his wife of fifty five special years Dorothy Ann MacDonald Rogers. Prior to his retirement he was employed by State of Maine for thirty-eight years retiring as Director of State Tax for Maine Revenue Service (fka Bureau of Taxation). During his retirement he cherished the time spent with family and friends, enjoyed computing and treasured the exceptional time spent watching and nurturing the development of his beloved grandchildren. Al was a wonderfully devoted strong compassionate gentleman, husband, parent and grandparent. All having the pleasure of association with him quickly embraced and recognized his gentle respectful nature and selfless wit which left all with a smile in a way that he genuinely provided. Al was predeceased by his daughter Sheree Ann Tardif and parents Albert Tardif, Sr. and Louise Redmond Tardif of Portland.He is survived by his wife Dorothy Ann Tardif, two sons Michael Rogers and wife Kelly of Monmouth, Thomas A. Tardif and fianc(c)e Roberta Fogg of Raymond, two grandsons Michael Thomas Tardif and fianc(c)e Alison Carrington of Santa Rosa, CA, Ryan Pomerleau and granddaughter Brittany Sheree Rogers; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family extends their heart felt appreciation to the Oncology Unit of Maine General Medical Center for the compassionate care and comfort staff provided during the last few days of his life. We will be forever grateful. Honoring his requests, there will be no public visitation hours. Following cremation a family committal service will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
