Randolph-Alfred J. Legere, 96, lovingly known as "Pepere", passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, strength, and vitality.
Born to Marcel and Evelyn (Daly) Legere, Alfred was raised in rural New Brunswick as the eldest of 9 children, where he attended school and spent his early years. In 1949, he migrated to the United States, beginning the next chapter of a life marked by dedication, resilience, and purpose

As a young man, Alfred embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm, finding joy in hiking, skiing, camping, and many other active pastimes that reflected his energetic spirit.
A proud veteran of the Korean War, Alfred traveled the world from Korea to the Arctic. He served as a Gunner's mate and French/English translator for his Navy Admiral. Known as the sailor that "never said no", he served his country with honor and devotion. His service remained a lifelong source of pride.
For more than 22 years, Alfred worked for Servomation Vending Company in Nashua, NH. He later continued his career with Nashua Corporation, where he spent an additional 15 years until his retirement in 1995. His strong work ethic and steady commitment were evident throughout his long professional life.
Alfred was a devoted member of St. Denis Parish in Whitefield, ME. A senior Knight of Columbus, he also participated actively in the Men's Spiritual Group, the St. Denis Seniors, and the parish Bereavement Committee, offering his time and compassion in service to others.
Steadfast in his Catholic faith, Alfred carried his beliefs with him through every season of his life. His devotion, combined with his athleticism and enduring vitality, made him a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Alfred is predeceased by his mother Evelyn, father Marcel, his sisters Lorraine, Rose, and Lila, as well as brothers Henry and Paul.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Nancy (Grenier) Legere; his two sons, Stephen A. Legere, & wife Barbara of Rochester, NY; David J. Legere, & his wife Lori of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his strength of character, his unwavering faith, and the vibrant energy he brought to the world around him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gardiner, ME at 10am on Monday, May 11, 2026 with a reception to follow at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner, ME. Burial will follow at 2pm at Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME. Arrangements and guidance are under the direction of Staples Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, ME.
