West Gardiner- Anthony E. “Tony” Morgan 79 went home to the Lord and rejoined his wife on Thursday, October 8, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Tony was born in Gardiner, Maine on January 11, 1947, the son of late Elmore E. and Leona E. (Malaney) Morgan. He attended local schools and graduated from Gardiner High School in the class of 1966 and EMVTI in 1968 before enlisting in the United States Navy as a Seabee.
On December 11, 1971, he married the love of his life, Sally A. Knowlton. Together they shared nearly 50 years of marriage before Sally’s passing in 2021.
Tony worked as a planner at Bath Iron Works for 39 years before he retired.
Tony enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends at camp on Great Moose Lake in Hartland. His greatest love was the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren.
Tony was predeceased by his wife, Sally Morgan; brother, Rodney Morgan and brother-in-law, Scott A. Knowlton. He is survived by his son, Darrin Morgan and his wife Katrina and their two children, Harbor and Nash of Hartland; brother Ron and his wife Carol Morgan of Pittston; sister Lynda and her husband Herb Moreshead of West Gardiner; many nieces and nephews; and special life long friends Mel Cole, John Black and Gerald Roy.
The family wishes to extend appreciation and gratitude for the loving care of Tony in his last years to the staff of Kennebec Assisted Living and Respite and Oak Grove Nursing Facility.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11am at Cherry Hill Cemetery in West Gardiner followed by a celebration of life at American Legion, Post 181, West Gardiner . Arrangements and guidance are under the direction of Staples Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner, ME.
