Obituary

LISBON FALLS - Armand Sylvio Bernier, affectionately known as Sonny to his friends and loved ones, was a beacon of compassion, dedication, loyalty, and humor. Born in Topsham, ME, on March 4, 1939, he spent his life in service to his family, his country, and his God. He made his home in Lisbon Falls, Maine, where he was not only a devoted husband, father, and papa, but also a great friend to many. Armand's dedication was evident in his long tenure as a Quality Control Manager in the shoe manufacturing industry, where he always strove for excellence. But his commitment extended beyond his professional life. He was an active and respected member of his community, serving as a sexton of his church for many years and even stepping in as a sub deacon when needed. His Christian faith was a constant source of strength and guidance, as he lived by the verse, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him" (Colossians 3:17). A man of diverse interests, Armand loved reading and had a passion for sports, particularly football and boxing. He also enjoyed lifting weights, which showcased his determination and strength, both physically and mentally. However, what mattered most to Armand was family. He was a loving husband to Teresa Bernier and the best girl dad to Rosie, Tiffany and Libby. He was a wonderful papa and a true friend, treasuring the time he spent with his loved ones, and leaving them with a lifetime of cherished memories. Armand was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvio Bernier and Mary Darling, and a sister Clairena (Bebe) Gilliam. His legacy will be carried on by his beloved wife, Teresa, and their daughters, Libby Michaud and husband Jeffrey, Roseanne Nugent and husband Ralph, Tiffany Hughes and husband Todd. He will also live on, in his grandchildren Kyle Michaud and wife Michaela, Austin Hughes, Mackenzie Nugent, Isabelle Michaud, Haley Hughes and Elizabeth Nugent. He also had two special brother-in-laws, Chris Lane and wife Theresa, John Thiboutot and wife Carrie, along with many special nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held for Sonny, on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 496 Lisbon Street, Lisbon, Maine, 04252. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, www.staplesfuneralhome.com The stories and images will serve as a testament to Armand's unique spirit and the profound impact he had on those around
