Beverly
Shaw
Oct 22, 1929 — Aug 19, 2023
AUGUSTA - Beverly (Shepard) Shaw, aged 93, of 712 Eastern Avenue in Augusta, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 22, 1929, to Wallace and Lois Niles Shepard, Beverly was raised on Deane Street in Gardiner, and graduated from Gardiner High School. She was married to Joseph A. Shaw, the love of her life. Beverly worked many years for the Augusta school lunch program and was kitchen manager at Farrington, Hodgkins and Buker schools. First and foremost, Beverly was a dedicated, fun, and loving mother. She especially loved her roles as Mother, Grammie, and later as Nannie to another generation of great grandchildren. She is survived by four children: Carolyn Marsh and husband David, June Carter and husband Hubert “Sonny”, Joseph Shaw Jr. and wife Cynthia, and Ernest Shaw and wife Mary; six grandchildren: Gary D. Chatto Jr., Heidi Muse and husband Aaron, Jenelle Farrell and husband Frank, Jacie Morrison and husband Jayson, Joseph Shaw Jr. and wife Sasha, and Dillon Shaw and fiancé Stephanie Dragoon; and five great grandchildren: Mallory and Bradley, Frankie, Louis, and Max.
Beverly is also survived by her sister Silvia Colfer and husband Paul, brother-in-Law Frank Turner and wife Rita, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Beverly will be remembered by her extended church family, neighbors, friends, and the Wendy’s Lunch Bunch, whom she enjoyed to the very end.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Shaw Sr. of 43 years, parents, Wallace and Lois Niles Shepard, brothers Carroll, Wallace (Bud) and wife Janice, George (Ken) and wife Betty, Conrad and wife Lorraine, Winston (Winnie) and wife Ella, and sister Pamela Turner.
Beverly’s life was a living example of her favorite bible verse, Ephesians 4:32: “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ.” The world was a better place with Beverly in it.
