Obituary

WEST GARDINER- Brenda Gail Wall Richards, 69, of West Gardiner, took her first breath in heaven as she stepped into the arms of her Lord on September 3, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 14, 1952, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Rollan) Wall. She was raised in Georgia and in her adult years she put down roots in Maine, but always remained a southern belle at heart. She was heard countless times stating, "You can take the girl out of Georgia, but you can't take the Georgia of out of the girl." After moving to Maine, she embarked on the full-time job of raising three children. She later worked for the State of Maine, providing administrative support for the Traffic Division, Crime Lab, and State Police, for 28 years. Even after retirement she continued to follow, support, and congratulate her Trooper family through social media. She was always their biggest fan. Brenda had an unbelievable knack for turning any meal into a work of art. Her incredible meals were the anticipation and cornerstone of all family gatherings. Her children always looked forward to their special birthday dinners where she would lovingly make their favorite meal with an excellence that would be envied by even the most accomplished chefs. She made many extraordinary meals, but nothing surpassed her awarding winning apple pie; a dish that was highly anticipated by all who knew her. She poured great love into the smallest tasks, touching each thing she did with a beauty that was all her own. She set the bar with her extraordinary skill to wrap gifts; making seamless edges and a handmade bow to top the masterpiece. The boxes were always rounded out with a magnificent, handcrafted card. The presentation was such sight of beauty it was almost a disgrace to tear into it to discover the gift inside. Her family will cherish the countless scrapbooks she made; painstakingly cutting each sheet of paper or boarder in the perfect way to present and preserve some of life's most precious memories in the most caring manner. If there was a way to beautify the world though crafts, Brenda found a way to do it. She poured her love for her family into the countless projects she made, creating splendor all around her. The special touch and beauty she added to everyday life will be missed more than anything. Brenda took life in stride; especially surrounding the shenanigans of her children and grandchildren, who she would often shake her head at while smiling, finding endless joy in their ridiculous antics, even when she was the focus of the mischief. She enjoyed nothing more than hearing their laughter and watching the smiles on their faces. In her final days she was supported and surrounded by the love of her family, especially that of her devoted husband who spent 29 years by her side and was always her rock. She is survived by her husband, Peter Richards Sr; two sons, Chris Giles and wife Kelly of Virginia, Doug Giles of Pittsfield; one daughter, Sharon Palmer and husband Rowe of Farmingdale; a brother, Charles (Chuck) Wall and wife Denise of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Caleb; one niece, three nephews, and a continuing growing number of great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents Charles and Edith Wall and a niece, Lori Elizabeth Wall. Brenda's visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 6th from 4-6 PM at the Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner. A service of celebration of her life will begin at 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susan G. Komen, in Brenda's memory and honor.
