Obituary

GARDINER—Bruce Wayne Davis, 72, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and their four-legged companions. Born on February 9, 1953, in Gardiner, Maine, Bruce was a devoted husband, father, "Bump," and proud Navy veteran. A man of great character and an even greater heart, his memory will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved him. Bruce chose to build his life and raise his family in South Gardiner, where he was born and raised. A hardworking and dedicated man, he served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, both on active duty and as a reservist—including a tour with the Seabees during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his time as a reservist, Bruce also worked as a clerk at Bath Iron Works, bringing the same sense of integrity and commitment to his civilian career that he carried throughout his military service. He found joy in life's simple pleasures—fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, and drag racing. Bruce was also a proud member of several community organizations, including the American Legion Post 4, Gardiner Eagles Club, and the Augusta VFW. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Davis; children Nichole (Edmond) Dube, Chad (Lisa Walker) Davis, and Mike (Libby) Ladner; stepchildren Torrie Beggs (Shannon), Eric McMaster (Ruth), and Kyle Crooker (Joanna); sister Sharon MacDonald; brother Tom Davis; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Ella Davis; brother Ivan Davis; son Jason Davis; and his beloved Boxerman, Molly. Bruce's life was a testament to duty, respect, and loyalty. He loved his small town and the land he grew up on, always serving as a source of strength and friendship to those around him. His legacy will remain an inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to know him. Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the American Legion, Post #4, 46 Griffin Street, Gardiner, Maine.
