1940 – 2022
WHITEFIELD – Charles Thomas Sweet, 82, of Whitefield, died on Monday November 7th, 2022.
He was born in New London, CT., on July 31, 1940, the son of Charles and Myrtle (Clark) Sweet. He graduated from New London High School in 1958. Tom married Patricia Jarvin in 1963. They lived in Connecticut, Florida and Mississippi before settling in Maine. He retired from Bath Iron Works. Tom & Pat were fortunate to be able to retire in their early 50's and enjoyed a trip out west for three months. They spent their winters in Florida. He volunteered for many years at Maine General in Augusta. Tom was a talented artist. He loved wood carving and carved several totem poles. A few years ago, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by having his work displayed at Sheepscot General Store for a weeklong showing. He always wondered if he was a good artist. The great turnout and responses were a resounding YES!
Tom was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Patricia.
