1949 – 2023
AUGUSTA – Damon Earle Cunningham, Jr., 73, of Augusta, died Thursday, January 19th, 2023 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He sadly died two days prior to his birthday.
He was born in Augusta, Maine, on January 21, 1949, the son of Damon Earle Cunningham, Sr., and Jane (Grimshaw) Cunningham.
Damon graduated from Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale, Maine. Thereafter, he spent four years serving his country in the Navy. He was also proud Mason, which was a family tradition. Damon worked 40 plus years at Bath Iron works as pipe fitter and had not retired at the time of his death. Damon had a passion for cars, especially corvettes. He owned two and was hoping to purchase a third during his retirement years. For those that were close with Damon he will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Damon is survived by his two children, Brad Ulmer, of Manchester, and Katina Paquette of South China; his brothers Bruce and Fred Cunningham and their wives; his grandchildren, David Santerre, Logan Paquette and Liberty Paquette.
Damon's visiting hours will be held of Tuesday, January 31, from 4-6 pm, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. A private Spring burial will be held in the Chadwick Hill Cemetery, in China.
