Daphne Eileen Karsten, 86, of Readfield passed away quietly on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Greybirch in Augusta, Maine. She was born in London, England on January 24, 1927 the daughter of William and Eileen Wootton. She attended The Garden School and Oxford University in England where she met her husband Charles. She "came over here" to become the rector’s wife. She worked at Christ Church, Gardiner alongside her husband Rev. Charles E. Karsten. She also worked in the community in volunteer at the hospital and Zonta. She loved singing, sewing, horseback riding and all animals. She is survived by husband, Charles E. Karsten, daughter, Wendy Karsten, brother, Captain Tony P. Wootton of England, daughter-in-law Liala Faavaag of New York and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Charles Karsten. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 11:00am at St. Luke's Episcopal on High Street in Wilton, Maine.
