OLD ORCHARD BEACH-David A. Sumner, 58, of Old Orchard Beach died September 27, 2022. David was born September 17, 1964 the son of Stanley and Lorraine (Hall) Sumner. David graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1982 and the University of Maine Orono in 1986. As a member of ROTC he received his diploma and then served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force for a short period of time. After college David taught school for 7 ½ years. He then moved to State services to work for the remainder of his career, first at the Department of Human Services and most recently the State Department of Labor as a Career Center Consultant, a place he truly enjoyed and where he got to meet and work with people of all walks of life and cultures, leaving them with his kind and caring response to their needs. David is survived by his parents Stanley and Lorraine Sumner of Farmingdale; daughter Lyndsey Sumner of Westbrook; brother Brian Sumner of North Hollywood, CA; aunt Dixie Sumner Wilson of TN; special cousin Mrs. David Thomas of Waterville; cousins Richard P. Cotter, Tracy Adkins, and Gaye Lynn Mullen and their families as well as many, many other cousins. David will be sadly missed by all. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon followed by a service at 12:00 noon at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. Burial will follow the service in Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
