Deborah Jo
Ashline
Nov 19, 1959 — Jun 16, 2026
Deborah Jo (Lawrence) Ashline, 66, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by her children, siblings and loved ones.
Deborah was born in Gardiner, Maine on November 19,1959 and is predeceased by her mother Linda J. (Davis) Lawrence, father Charles W. Lawrence Sr. both of Pittston, ME and stepmother Linda M. Lawrence. She attended local schools and graduated from Gardiner High School in the class of 1978 where she was a cheerleader and part of the Pep Club. After high school, Deborah enlisted and served in the United States Air Force and was based at George Air Force Base in California. While on active duty in the Army Reserves, she once found herself the only woman on base, stationed in Honduras during an uprising.
Deb is survived by her children Amanda O'Donnell (Husband Heath, sons Elijah and Jacob), Sadie Lopes (Husband Marcelo, son Julien), James O'Donnell (partner Andrea, sons Issac and Jacoby, daughters Zoey and Charlotte) and Kayla Ashline (partner Nate, daughter Ava Jo, sons Kayden and Kohlson)
She is also survived by her siblings Jeanne (Ronnie) Moody, Darlene (Gary) Moody, Judy (Jason) Dutton, Charlie (Lisa) Lawrence, Chris (Phil) Lawrence, and Jen (Ryan) Burns, as well as five stepsiblings and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Meme, known to her by her grandchildren, were the light of her life. Whether it was walking the fields at the pond or planting flowers and vegetables in the garden. Going camping, fishing, hunting or being loaded up to go to Moosehead on family trips. Sitting in the bleachers watching race cars. Or just being an amazing grandmother! There was no question that her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Proud of her military service time, Deb continued to find ways to serve her community throughout the rest of her life. She gave much of her time to care for local cemeteries. Placing flags, wreaths and flowers on the graves of our veterans was work she was passionate about, and she became instrumental in bringing "Wreaths Across America" to Pittston. She received several awards including "Spirit of America" for her dedication to community service. Deborah was not only very patriotic but also loved Pittston history and genealogy. Walking through cemeteries and knowing the history of names that she crossed was something she was proud of. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Pittston Fair in the exhibition hall, helping wherever she could. Always up for a discussion or learning something new as fellow volunteers turned to her when in need. Debs, undying devotion to her hometown, will be greatly missed!
Visiting hours celebrating Deborah’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, ME. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10am at Putnam Cemetery, Whitefield Road, Pittston, ME.
