GARDINER - Debra Lee Alexander, 62, of Gardiner, Maine a beacon of warmth and generosity, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Randolph.

Born on October 10, 1963, in Brunswick, Maine, the daughter of Terry Elwell and Andrea Murillo.

Debra lived a life defined by her boundless love for family, her passion for creativity, and her unwavering commitment to helping others. She possessed a spirit as vibrant as the gemstones she cherished, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Growing up in the Brunswick and Topsham area, Debra developed an early appreciation for the beauty of the world around her. She attended Mt. Ararat and Brunswick High School and got her GED and pursued some college courses, laying the foundation for a life filled with learning and growth. Her free-spirited and spiritual nature guided her through life's journey, embracing experiences with an open heart and mind. Debra's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly throughout her career. For over 30 years, she was the proud co-owner and operator of the Enchanted Jewelry Store with her ex-husband Gilles St. George, in Danielson, Connecticut. Her talent and passion for jewelry design were evident in every piece, and her store was a testament to her dedication to her craft. She had a deep love for all things jewelry and gemstones, a passion that she shared generously with her customers. In her later years, Debra also found fulfillment in cleaning houses, a role where her meticulous nature and caring approach were greatly appreciated.

Debra's defining characteristics were her immense capacity for love and her welcoming nature. She cherished her family above all else and opened her heart and home to many children, adopting some into her family, creating a tapestry of love and belonging. Her smile had the power to brighten any room, instantly putting those around her at ease. Debra was a huge advocate for people, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer support to those in need. Her willingness to give the shirt off her back was a testament to her profound empathy and kindness.

Beyond her professional life and family, Debra found joy in a variety of interests. Her love of gardening brought beauty and life into her surroundings. Her fascination with jewelry and gemstones extended beyond her business; she was always drawn to their intricate beauty. An adventurous gypsy spirit, Debra loved riding her Harley Davidson, feeling the freedom of the open road. She had a special fondness for animals, particularly cats and dogs, and found a unique beauty in dragonflies and angels, often seeing them as symbols of peace and transformation.

She was predeceased by her son, Troy Simonds, Sr., brother Joseph Thiboutot, and her father Terry Elwell.

Debra is survived by her loving husband, James Robert Alexander; her cherished mother, Andrea Murillo, and her adopted son Troy Simonds, Jr; siblings, Jolen Jacobs, Reggie Thiboutot and girlfriend Kristie Reynolds, Asia Alexander and husband Justin, Chad Murrillo, Trudy Emch and husband David, Lisa Elwell-Avery and husband Jim, Terry “Bubba” Ellwell, Jr., and Lucas Elwell, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through the many children whose lives she touched, which includes Mariah, Katie, Josh, Troy, Sr. and Troy, Jr. Information regarding funeral or memorial services will be shared privately with family and friends.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held Saturday, October 10th, from 1-5pm at the American Legion Post #202, 79 Foreside Road, Topsham, Maine.
