Obituary

AUGUSTA - Debra A. Proctor, 73, died Thursday, March 6, 2025, while a resident at Maine General Rehabilitation and LTC at Glenridge. Debra was born April 18, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, to parents Tony Montoya and Ruth Mascarenaz. She moved to Maine when she was 18 and resided in South Gardiner for over two decades. Debra was employed by Carleton Woolen Mills and for the State of Maine in her early years. She also worked as a Hotel Supervisor for many years in Utah before returning to Maine. Debra's passion was drawing, calligraphy, playing bingo and tending to her house plants. She found joy in spending time with her family and doted on her grandchildren any chance she could. She had a soft spot for anything ocean related such as collecting seashells, viewing lighthouses and just about anything involving the beach. She loved music with a particular devotion to her favorites like The Beatles and Elvis. She also enjoyed television shows and movies. She is survived by her son Jerry Sirois with wife Tanya Sirois of Chelsea; daughter Jennifer Laliberte with husband Scott Laliberte of Augusta; son Joshua Sirois of Farmingdale; Grandchildren Greg Pease, Christopher Sirois, Sydney Bubar, Victoria Lerette and several great-grandchildren. The family would like to recognize the staff and administration of Maine General Rehabilitation and LTC at Glenridge as well as the nurses and doctors there. Their diligence, hard work and positive attitude were greatly appreciated. It was comforting to know she was taken care of daily with professionalism and with her care being put first. There will be no service per her wishes. However, a spreading of ashes ceremony will be performed in the Spring with family by her side. We invite you to share your fondest memories of Debra or upload a cherished photo to her memorial page at www.staplesfuneralhome.com Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
