Pittston-Dorothy L. Benner of Pittston, passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 20, 2021 at the age of 86 at her family home. She was born at her family home on December 19, 1934 the daughter of Charles and Alice (Sparrow) Leavitt. Dorothy was a graduate of Gardiner Area High School and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Gardiner for many years. She is predeceased by a brother Richard Leavitt, a brother Robert Leavitt and a sister Patricia Coutts. Dorothy is survived by a daughter Sally (Michael) Sirois of China, three grandchildren Holly (Brian) Murray of Richmond, Alice Sirois (William Snowman) of Richmond, and Benjamin (Samantha) Sirois of West Gardiner, two great-great grandchildren Paige Reynolds and Parker Gagnon, and two great-great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Emilia Reynolds. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to the many that have helped my mother over the years. And especially in most recent months, Tara Sabattis, Andrea Sparrow and Susan Hodgkins. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 1, at 1PM at Putnam Cemetery in Pittston.
