WEST GARDINER - Elaine Ruth Smith, of West Gardiner, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025 with family at her side, just a few weeks shy of her 71st birthday. Born on May 28, 1954, in Augusta, Maine, Elaine spent her early years in Gardiner before settling in West Gardiner where she made her home. Elaine enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with her family. Despite the challenges life threw her way, Elaine always met them with resilience and grace. Elaine was predeceased by her mother Marcia Moody, her husband Daniel Smith, her grandson Nathan and her brothers Wayne, Richard and Brian Moody. She is survived by her daughters, Tina Shorey and her husband Tim, Mary Weed and her husband Mark, Betty Maylin and her husband Jeff along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by many sisters and their spouses along with several nieces and nephews.
