Obituary

1934 - 2021 AUGUSTA - Elizabeth Ogilvie Shenett, 86, of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta from complications of COVID-19. She was born in Bannockburn, Stirling, UK, on September 25, 1934, the daughter of John and Isabelle (Buchan) McLaren. As a young girl, she played the drums in her hometown Scottish band. Her and her family moved from Scotland to Boston in 1948 when she was 14 yrs old. She met her husband Alfred in the church choir and the two were married on October 13, 1956, at the Congregational Church in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. She worked in Boston at the John Hancock Insurance Co., prior to staying home and raising her children. The family then moved to Maine in 1970. Elizabeth especially enjoyed spending time with her family, and her dog Porter, who was her constant companion. One of her favorite past times were playing the lottery and her trips to Hollywood Slots. She enjoyed playing computer games, watching golf and Sci-Fi movies, and collecting commemorative items. Elizabeth was also incredibly knowledgeable at any type of trivia. She was predeceased by her parents John and Isabelle (Buchan) McLaren ; husband Alfred Randall Shenett. Elizabeth is survived by her four children, Randall Shenett and girlfriend Kimberly, of Waterville, Lisa Shenett, of Windsor, Karen LaChance and husband Ronald, of Pittsfield, Anne Roberts, of Belfast; sister, Margaret Wheeler, of Palm Coast, Fl.; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-children, and special friend, Theresa Ellis, of Windsor, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elizabeth's family would like to extend special thanks to all the healthcare workers who have given such loving care to her over the years. A Spring burial will take place beside her husband at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, the time and date will be announced.
