Chelsea- Eugene Richard McArthur Jr., 66, of Chelsea, Maine, passed away on August 21, 2026. He was born on April 22, 1960, to Eugene Richard McArthur Sr. and Kathleen Marjorie McArthur.

Eugene made his home in Chelsea, Maine, where he spent many years building a life and a home for his family. He was a hardworking man who held many construction jobs throughout his younger years, working primarily as an equipment operator and pipe layer. He took pride in his work and in providing for the people he loved.

Eugene had a love for the outdoors and cherished the memories made with his family over the years. Some of his favorite times were spent camping and enjoying family gatherings. Above all, Eugene loved his family and was especially proud of his sons. He treasured the time he spent with them, and some of his happiest moments were simply being together. One of their special traditions was getting together every Friday to haul trash. What may have seemed like an ordinary Friday to others was something Eugene looked forward to because it meant time with his boys. Those moments, the conversations, the laughs, and simply being together were memories he truly cherished.

Those who knew Eugene may also remember his daily drives through Gardiner, especially his trips down to the waterfront. He enjoyed stopping to chat with all the other “locals,” catching up with familiar faces and enjoying the simple conversations that became part of his daily routine. These little moments were part of what made Eugene who he was.

Although Eugene and his former wife, Debbie, had gone their separate ways, they remained close friends throughout the years. Their friendship continued to be an important part of Eugene’s life, and she was there for him whenever he needed her. She cared for him, supported him, and remained by his side through his later years. Their ability to remain friends and continue to care for one another was something truly special. Eugene also had a close friend, TJay, who was there for him and helped care for him during the last couple of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Richard McArthur Sr. and Kathleen Marjorie (Adam’s)McArthur, and his brother, Tim McArthur. Eugene is survived by his two sons, Eugene Richard McArthur III, also known as “Beanie,” and Mike Rowe McArthur Sr. and his wife, Helen McArthur; his sister, Julie Maxim; his grandchildren, Mikeala, Nate, Nakomi, Mike Jr., Eliza, and Riley; and his many wonderful great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends who loved him dearly. Eugene leaves behind more than just memories. He leaves behind a family who knew his love, his hard work, his pride in his children and grandchildren, and the simple routines that made up his life. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all of the familiar faces who knew him along his daily drives through Gardiner.

Rest easy, Eugene. Your work here is done. May you always be remembered for the life you built, the family you loved, and the memories you left behind.
