Obituary GARDINER Frances May (Thurlow) Mazeroll, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 14, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 9, 1921, in South Paris, Maine to Harry and Harriett (Crockett) Thurlow. She attended schools in Oxford but left school early to take care of her mother, who was sick, and her father and brothers. Later, she worked at Hallowell Shoe Factory for five years. In 1946, she met the love of her life, Gerald Mazeroll; they married October 10, 1947, in Hallowell. Together they had three daughters, Geri, Jean and Debbie. She was a stay at home mother and loved her family and taking care of their home. After her husbands death in 1966, she sold the family home in West Gardiner and went to work as a waitress at her brother Bobs restaurant the Big Boy, in Augusta. The family then bought a house in Gardiner where she started the business Mazerolls Family Daycare that she ran until she retired in 1993. She loved her business and has cared for most of her grandchildren, as well as many many children who when she would run into them even now, would call her Grammy. After her retirement she sold her house and moved to Highland Avenue Terrace apartments where she lived until she moved to Augusta at the Margaret Chase Smith House. In 2009, she moved to her daughter Debbie and Mikes house in a small apartment they built for her. She was a member of Calvary Foursquare Church in Gardiner for over 35 years, participating in Vacation Bible Schools, childrens ministries and any event having to do with food and cooking. She was a member of the Gardiner and Lewiston Singles Clubs from 19702004, until a fall ended her dancing days. She volunteered for the Salvation Army store three days a week from 1999-2004, until a fall on black ice on her way to work. She also volunteered for the Battered Womens Association and Camp Postcard. She was a member of the Fitzgerald-Cummings Unit 2 in Augusta where she held office in the Auxiliary as Chaplin for seven years. She was a member of the Town & Country Bowling League in Gardiner for over 20 years. Frances was predeceased by her husband Gerald Joseph Mazeroll (10-15-66) and her daughter Geri (Mazeroll) Mason (7-20-91). She was one of 14 children predeceased by her brothers Herman, Ray, Cecil (Happy Jack), Harry, Merle, Ralph and her sister Rita Yates as well as 5 siblings as infants. She is survived by her daughters Jean (Mazeroll) MacLeod of West Gardiner and Debbie (Mazeroll) Swift and her husband Mike of Gardiner, brother P. Robert (Bob) Thurlow of Augusta and his wife Joyce, and sister in laws Kay Thurlow of Augusta, Roberta Thurlow of Connecticut, Madeline Webb of Gardiner and Dolores Mazeroll of California. She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Heather Mazeroll and her partner Kurt Richards of Augusta, Lashanna Kimball and her husband Rob of Windsor, Thurlow (TW) Mason of Gardiner, Kate Marriner and her husband Ryan of Augusta, Kelly Noce of Boulder Creek, California, Chad Swift and his wife Janielle of Fresno, California, Shauna Burke and her husband Zack of West Gardiner, Autumn Mazeroll and Hannah Swift both of Gardiner. Great Grandchildren, Brooke Mazeroll of Chelsea, Haven Mazeroll and Kove Richards of Augusta, Tyler and Ryan Kimball of Windsor, Jonathan Mason of Gardiner, Kenzia and Kiarra Marriner of Augusta, Adriana and Vincent Noce of Boulder Creek, California, and Zachariah and Tucker Burke of West Gardiner. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She wanted everyone to know how close our family is and all the fun times that we have shared whether at the family camp, holiday dinners, or any occasion to get together. She loved to entertain and cook for her family and friends. She was an avid reader and would read a book a day. Special thanks to Trudy who supplied her with hundreds of books that brought her many hours of pleasure. She loved word search puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Dancing with the Stars. We would like to express our thanks to the staff at Maine General Medical Center, both to the Emergency Room staff and most especially to the staff on the Critical Care Unit. We appreciate your patience with our family and letting us move in and take over her room as, we slept, ate and practically lived there. Being able to spend the last couple of weeks with our mother has been an unforgettable time and we cannot express the importance of it for all the family members who came to spend time with her. It mattered. THANK YOU! She also wanted me to give a special thank you to her fourth daughter Terry Hathaway. Your friendship and support over the years has been so appreciated, to not only her, but to all of us. The special times and memories shared with her sister-in-laws Kay and Joyce Thurlow were a blessing and provided so many laughs in reliving the stories. The special childhood song that her brother Bob sang to her was both moving and heart wrenching. Thank you!!
