1949 - 2023 GARDINER - Fred Ryder Dill, 74, of Gardiner, died Friday, December 22, 2023, following a long illness. Fred was born in Glen Falls, NY on June 23, 1949, the son of Evelyn Dill Newcombe and Frank Dill. Fred grew up in the Augusta and Gardiner areas. He graduated from Gardiner Area HS 1968 and went on to graduate from the Maine School of Business. He worked for several local banks, the Hallowell School System, and the University of Florida at Gainesville. Fred was a long-time member of the Free Methodist Church in Gardiner. He was very independent, loyal, loved music and dancing, a good cup of coffee, and loved to tease. You knew he liked you when he created a nickname for you. Fred was predeceased by his first wife Patricia; son Michael Andres; mother Evelyn; father Frank; two sisters Martha Patterson, Marsha Verhille, and brother-in-law Thomas Dort. Fred is survived by his second wife Barbara (Black) Dill; daughter Sherry Fisher (Douglas); son Joseph (Sandy); two stepsons Roland and Jason Warehouse; two granddaughters Jennifer Andres and Raya Yenco; three grandsons Joseph Andres (Tiffany), Corbin (Melanee) and Darren (Katie) Fisher; three great grandchildren Shantel Walsh, Cody and Theodore Newton; sister Phyllis Dort; as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. The family wants to acknowledge the wonderful care and affection shown by the Cove Care unit and Hospice care staff at Glenridge Rehab and Long-Term Care. Fred's visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at Highland Avenue Free Methodist Church, 134 Highland Avenue, Gardiner, from noontime to 2pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm.
