1946 -2023 WEST GARDINER – Frederick Eugene Drew, 76, of West Gardiner, died Saturday, September 9, 2023, after a brief illness at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born November 27, 1946, in Brunswick, Maine, to Raymond and Margaret (Ridell) Drew. He grew up in Lisbon Falls and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1965. In between his stints in the Navy, he earned his master's degree in business administration and worked at BIW. The call to serve his country led him back to the Navy. He retired in 1995 while managing the NROTC Unit at Norwich University in Vermont. Upon retiring he and Joyce moved back to Maine to be closer to family. Those who knew Fred understood that he had a bit of knowledge about a lot of subject matter, and he wasn't afraid to share that knowledge with others. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael. Fred is survived by his wife Joyce Drew of West Gardiner, her son Todd Barresi of Lewiston; his two daughters, Diana (Frank) Rolfe of Lisbon and Kimberly (Robert) Bernier of Bowdoin; his grandchildren, Courtney Eck, Haley Eck, Scott (Shelby) Eck, and Tyler Bernier; his great-grandchildren, Connor Bolton, Ryleigh Bolton, Nora Eck, and Mallory Eck. He is also survived by his nieces Marie Ahearn and Jennifer Whiteleather. Fred's military committal service will be held for immediate family only (per his wishes) on Friday, September 29th at 10:00am at the Old Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Committal Shelter Blue Star Avenue, Augusta, Maine.
