Obituary

1945 - 2023 LITCHFIELD - After a lifetime of shenanigans and mischief, Mistress Moonbeam inconsiderately left this earth. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, Veterans Day, as the sun rose, Gale's breaths became shorter and shallower. When the full sun shone through her bedside window she quietly slipped away surrounded by her husband and two of her daughters. She was not a sun worshiper, and it was appropriate that she took this time to escape. She left behind a heck of a lot of stuff, which her children and husband have no idea what to do with. Gale was born September 15, 1945, in Baton Rouge, LA, the oldest child of Gordon and Lorene Lindsay. Gale was a magnificent artist and particularly gifted with watercolors. She was a crafter and collector, boasting an extensive collection of rocks, sea glass, spoons, walking sticks (shillelaghs), mashers, eggbeaters, picture frames, Santas, and, of course, her murders of well-fed crows. Although she liked to say, "We never go anywhere," to her husband Cal, they traveled the US extensively, including Alaska and Hawaii. If that was not enough, they also traveled all over the globe including Bahamas, Aruba, Ireland, Scotland, Peru, Israel, and France. Gale was an RN, working for many years in labor & delivery at Maine General. Everywhere she went, mothers would recognize her as their nurse, and they would ask if she recognized them. After her retirement, she worked for the family fence company. Although Cal was the owner, she was the boss. He lovingly referred to her as "The Warden," although none of us are sure what her job title was. Gale is survived by her husband Cal, and her children: Elisa (& Jim) Laflamme of Winthrop, Brigid (& Bob) Van Vlack of Winthrop, Megan (& Sandy) Spalding of Sabattus, Brian Corriveau of Bath, and beloved Scooter. Also: Lisa (& Tom) Stengle, Glenn (& Rae) Brown, and Heidi (& AJ) Pelczar. Though predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Avi. Gale was a proud Nana to Lindsay (& Jimmy), Kristin (& Bennett), Brett (& Haley), Simone, Tyler (& Corin), Logan, Colby (& Katie), Jordan (& Hannah), Abby (& Jake), Gabe (& Cassidy), William, Connor, Camryn, Haley (& Sahmeer), Jack, Michael, Sunny, and Christopher. Her great-grandchildren Isabel, Ryan, Emily, and Mila brought immense happiness and pride to their great-grandparents' lives. She is also survived by her brother Joe (& Sharon) Lindsay of Winchester, VA, and sister Patricia (& Richard RIP) Kosma of Falmouth—as well as a niece Tara (& Joe) Partow of Falmouth and nephew, Lon Kosma, of Farmingdale. The family would like to thank the medical staff at St Mary Regional Medical Center, especially Roy, Michael, Cecilia, Lynn, Bethany, Michaela, Dr Kim Caldwell, and Dr Ross Watson.
