Gardiner- George G. Walsh, 76, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, of natural causes, his son was by his side. George was born on August 22, 1948, in Augusta, Maine, the son of the late George A. and Marjorie (Stromberg) Walsh. He graduated from Gardiner High School class of 1966. Following high school, he enlisted and served in the United States Army. In 1971, George went to work at the Togus VA where he had a thirty-six-year career in Administration, retiring in 2007. George was very proud of his career and the work he did at the VA. In his spare time, George loved working in his yard landscaping, mowing the grass and maintaining a beautiful yard. While working in his yard he always made time to stop and talk with neighbors and friends who would see him in the yard and just stop to say hello! He was an avid history buff and enjoyed watching documentaries that focused on certain times in history. George loved his community and was a very proud veteran. George is survived by a son, Adam Walsh of Gardiner and a granddaughter, Shantel Walsh. A private burial will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
