Obituary

1972 – 2022 FREEPORT – Greg Robert Savona, 49, of Freeport, Maine died unexpectedly on Wednesday January 19th, 2022. He was born in Augusta, Maine on March 4, 1972, the son of Jack and Anne (Ashenfelter) Savona. Greg graduated from Kennebunk High School, Class of 1990 and University of Maine, class of 1994. He went on to be well-respected in the construction industry in Maine, was on the Board of Directors of the Association of General Contractors and the Town of Freeport planning board. Greg had a love of being on the water, boating and fishing in Casco Bay and loved skiing in the mountains in Maine. He grew up learning to ski at Sugarloaf and brought that tradition to his own children. Greg was a dedicated father and loving husband. He cherished his time with his family, extended family and network of friends. He loved playing with his kids and supported them in sports as well as their education. He was a coach for the little league, taught his kids to ski and taught them to mow the lawn, running backwards to make sure they followed straight lines. Greg was long known for his smile and his witty sense of humor. He enjoyed having a house full of friends and family and was the ultimate host. He will be missed immensely by family and friends. Greg was predeceased by his mother Anne. He is survived by his wife Erika (Freeport), children Ryan (12) and Ethan (10), his father Jack Savona and sister Andrea (Savona) Brown. He is survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. There will be a celebration of Greg's life held later in the Spring, the date and time will be announced.
