WHITEFIELD - James Peter Solomon, 70, of Whitefield, Maine, a man known for his caring nature and skilled hands, passed away on Monday, August10, 2026, at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
Born on August 1, 1956, in Augusta, Maine, the son of Louie and Gladys Solomon. James spent his formative years in Whitefield before graduating from Erskine Academy in 1974.
James dedicated his professional life to the construction industry, lending his strength and expertise to various projects. His career included notable work with Frame Works, Crowe Rope, and extensive logging alongside the Peaslee Brothers. He was a laborer through and through, someone who took pride in his work and the tangible results he could achieve.
Beyond his professional endeavors, James was a man of many passions. He found joy and tranquility in the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being among his favorite pastimes. His creative spirit also found an outlet in woodworking, where he meticulously crafted pieces with his own hands. He possessed a unique talent for chair caning and net making, skills that spoke to his patience and dedication to traditional crafts. James was a devoted son and brother.
He was predeceased by his parents, seven siblings, Nancy Ripley, Louie “Joe” Solomon, Matthew Solomon, Andrew Solomon, Stephen Solomon, Anna Solomon, and Anita Newell.
James is survived by four siblings, Christine Solomon and husband David Oxton, of Gardiner, Michael Solomon, of Augusta, Lorna Peaslee and Annette Webber, both of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
His presence will be deeply missed by his family, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.
Though his earthly journey has concluded, the legacy of James Peter Solomon will live on through the countless lives he touched, the skills he mastered, and the memories he leaves behind.
A celebration of James life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the American Legion Post #2, 294 Capitol Street, Augusta, Manie.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
