Obituary

RANDOLPH - Janet L. Weed, after a 2 1/2-year battle with cancer she earned her wings peacefully at home with her daughter, son in law and best friend at her side. Born on July 21, 1960, in Gardiner. Janet was the youngest of the five Weed children born to Don and Deanie Weed of Randolph. Janet grew up in Randolph attending local schools and graduated from Gardiner High School in 1978. Janet had many adventures throughout her childhood and teen years with her best friend Brenda Madden that she treasured. Janet married James Maillet shortly after high school and soon her greatest adventures would begin becoming a mother, truly her proudest moments. Janet loved her daughters and was immensely proud of each of them. She also enjoyed cold beers, gardening, horses, and spending time with her closest friends. Janet was proudly retired just four days before her passing after a 35-year career serving the veterans at the VA Medical Center. She was very proud of her work there and worked despite her debilitating illness up to 2 weeks before she passed. A testament to her tenacity and grit. Janet was predeceased by her parents Don and Deanie Weed, and the father of her girls James Maillet. Janet is survived by her daughters Jackie Gosselin and husband Norm, of Winthrop and Jenna McLaughlin and husband Andre, of Santa Monica, California; four siblings and their spouses and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Thanks seems so insufficient to those that regularly reached out to her during this two year battle with cancer. Her time spent with her 78 angel Brenda Madden are times she treasured. Janet also was quite fond of friend Kim Legace and her husband Brian. Thank you for your love and friendship of my mother. Special thanks to Androscoggin Hospice for taking such amazing care of my mother with such kindness and respect. She loved you Betsy and Kelly! There will be a private service for family and friends on Friday, July 9th, at 11:00am, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner. Rest in paradise Mum, I will love you forever. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website: www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com
