MOUNT VERNON - Joan M. (Cookson) Ellis passed away on April 26, 2024, at home with her family at her side. She was born on April 11, 1934, in Randolph, daughter of the late Ralph and Loretta (Cloutier) Cookson. She was a graduate of Gardiner High School. Joan was the owner and operator of Poodle Dog Grooming in Pittston for many years until her retirement. Joan raised horses for many years, enjoyed going out to eat, treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed antiquing and had a small antique shop for a while. She was predeceased by her two children Gary D. Ellis and Sharalyn Ellis, and ex-husband Glenwood W. Ellis. At Joan's request there will be no services. Joan is survived by her daughter Shana Lemelin and husband Travis of Mt. Vernon and son Dale Ellis of Arizona; six grandchildren Michelle, Chris, Nicole, Tyler, Travis Jr., and Takota: two great granddaughters Katherine and Kristen, and a friend David Smith of South Gardiner.
