West GardinerJohn H. Wentworth I of West Gardiner passed away on May 27, 2009 of natural causes. John, a native of South Berwick, Maine joined the Army as a Private in February 1947 and retired as a LTC in June 1969. He returned to Maine and embarked upon a career with the State of Maine as the Director of Administrative Services for the Department of Motor Vehicle. He also served as a Deputy Secretary of State for Maine. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vera; three children Kathy, Deborah (Suzie) and John II and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Tuesday June 2 at 11am at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave. Gardiner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society.
