Obituary

Randolph-Judith Ann (Pierson) Leavitt, age 73, of Kinderhook St. Randolph, Me, passed away March 7, 2023, at home with her loving daughter by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Gardiner, ME on March 6, 1950 to Robert Pierson and Catherine Ayer Pierson. Judy graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1968, and from Central Maine Beauty School in 1969. She worked a short time in Cosmetology before beginning her over 42 years with the State of Maine. She started working for DHHS, moving on to the Secretary of State Office specializing in pardons and commissions, where she retired from in February 2022. Judy also served as a Dedimus Justice from February 1990 to October 2021. In May 1975, Judy married Willis A. Leavitt. In May 1976 they welcomed their only child, daughter Alicia Tarah Leavitt. The marriage ended in divorce in May 1981. Judy was very active and supportive during Alicia's High School years, attending all Cheering events and softball games. Judy had a lifelong love of animals, dogs, cats and up to 13 rabbits at one time. Her other passion was her 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, it was her other baby. She leaves behind her loving daughter Alicia and her boyfriend, David Goodwin, of Dover NH, family members & friends. Judy was predeceased by both parents and Thomas Johnson, of Augusta, her long time companion and best friend. The family would like to thank the staff at Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice for the care they provided during Judy's cancer battle. Also, friend Kim Spear for the support provided during this long and difficult time. At Judy's request, there will be no service. In lieu of funeral services, and to honor Judy's character, we ask all who wish to participate to please make a donation to a Human Society, animal food pantry or simply hang a hummingbird feeder. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
