Chelsea-Kathy S. Cooper, 55, of Chelsea died unexpectedly on Friday May 16, 2014 at her home. She was born in Augusta on June 5, 1959, a daughter of Joseph and Dora (Wheelock) Sounier. A graduate of Cony High School class of 1977, Kathy was a licensed cosmetologist. She was a Navy wife for 20 years and served as a Navy Ombudsman. She coached her son’s little league team in San Diego and a manager of Pizza Hut for five years. She loved music especially blue grass and singing with her husband Bub. She loved nature, the water, going on Sunday drives and fishing on Mother’s Day with her family. She was a very kind and gentle spirit and will be missed by many, especially BeBe and Rusty. Kathy is survived by her husband Edmund (BuB)C. Cooper, her children, Amanda J. Cooper, Christopher C. Cooper, her brothers, Tim and Elaine, Terry and Paula, and Jerry, her sisters, Rose, Patsy, Judy, Penny and Tardy, Deborah, Karen and Ray, six grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of life will be held Sunday May 25th from 2-3pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner where a service will follow at 3pm. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mt Vernon rd Augusta on June 18th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please have perennials delivered to be planted at home in memory of her.
