South Gardiner- Kathy-Jo Gerard, 55, of Cannard Street died on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Maine Medical Center after suffering a cardiac event. Kathy-Jo was born in Augusta, Maine on September 2, 1970, the daughter of Burton G. and Joyce F. (Martens) Follensbee. She attended local schools and graduated from Hall-Dale High School in the class of 1988. On Saturday, August 21, 2021, she married Peter Gerard at Penny Memorial Baptist Church in Augusta becoming a blended family. Her career spanned twenty-eight years at Change Healthcare where she worked as a Capability Analyst along with wearing many other hats for the company. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing Tae Kwon Do in which she held a 3rd degree Black Belt, spending time at Grants Camps in Rangely, fishing and riding on the pontoon boat or bird hunting in Greenville. She and Peter loved to travel, but her greatest love was the time she spent surrounded by her children and her dogs. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Maine General Medical Center, Life Flight of Maine and Maine Medical Center for the extraordinary care and love they showed Kathy-J0. Kathy-Jo was predeceased by her mother, Joyce Martens. She is survived by her loving husband, Peter Gerard of South Gardiner, six children, Branden Dupuis and his wife Eve of AZ, Samantha Dupius and her companion Hunter Kemp of Pittston, Amanda Frank and her husband Shawn of Lewiston, Terrie Mabe and her husband Jeremy of Gardiner, Cassie Gerard of South Gardiner, Siera Gerard and her fiancé Alex Haley of Waterville; her father, Burton Follensbee of Burham; a brother, Carl Follensbee and his girlfriend Lori of Lebanon; a sister, Betty-Jo Follensbee of Skowhegan; several nephews. Visiting hours celebrating Kathy-Jo's life will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner, ME. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00am with burial to follow.
