Obituary

PITTSTON - Kendall Edward Buck passed away peacefully at his home in Pittston on Wednesday June 24, 2026, at the age of 76.

Kendall was born on September 22, 1949, the son of Elaine (Ingalls) and Neil Buck.

Kendall attended local Augusta schools before enlisting in the Army in 1967. After his time in the military working primarily as a mechanic, Kendall returned to Augusta where he worked with Augusta Fire and Rescue where he met many life-long friends. After leaving the fire department he went out on his own as an arborist, then transitioned to home renovations and general construction. In 1993 Kendall opened his own business, The Mason’s Choice in Randolph, where he was able to work alongside his sons until he retired in 2010.

Kendall was a hardworking man. He loved to be busy and could often be found working on a project in the garage or around the house. Kendall spent his life working with his hands. However, it was his mind that impressed those he worked with. Kendall was known as someone that could “figure anything out”. He had the skills of a master carpenter as he could do beautiful finish work. He could rebuild an engine or transmission which he did several times for his grandchildren. Kendall could also do his own plumbing, electrical, and basically any other trade. Kendall was a rare talent.

Despite being busy, Kendall did enjoy taking a break for hunting, fishing and enjoying the Maine woods. He loved camping up north, and spending nights on the boat with Phyllis. More than anything else, Kendall loved his family, and enjoyed every minute he spent with them. His children and grandchildren will remember many nights next to the campfire with Kendall watching him read novels; however, he would often pause his reading to tell a favorite hunting or life story that everyone will remember.

Kendall was predeceased by his parents, and brother Hollis.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 37 years, Phyllis. He is also survived by five children; Neil and his wife Stephanie, Michael and his partner Karen, Ronald and his wife Karen, Kendra and her husband Anthony, Jenna and her husband James. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Ashley, Michael, Samantha, Kaleb, Anthony, Ryan, Elisabeth, Luke, Sullivan, Matthew, Kennedie, Chloe, and Sophia-Lynn. Kendall also had the blessing of having four great grandchildren and one more on the way that will be his namesake. He is survived by his sister Cathy, her husband Brent, brother Kenneth, his wife Gayle, and four brothers-in-law whom he considered brothers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as a close friend of the family, Sue Gallant.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Majithia and the staff at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care for their heartfelt care.
