Obituary

GARDINER – Larry Richard Pelletier," Frog", 63, of Gardiner, Maine, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at home with his family by his side. He was taken way to early due to a short battle with cancer. He was born in Gardiner, Maine on November 13, 1957, the son of Armand (Normand) and Bertha (Cote) Pelletier. He attended his freshman year at Gardiner Area High School. Larry served in the Army National Guard for 12 years and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He also held a few jobs which included, Logging and operating skidder, heavy equipment operator for construction, and was an owner operator truck driver. Larry enjoyed stockcar racing and winning in the 1980's at Wiscasset Speedway, taking his Harley Davidson out for a cruise on day trips, and watching NASCAR on Sundays with his friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, camping with his friends and family. He cherished time spent with his dogs, Sandy and Mandy and the family coon cat Romney, which all three predeceased him. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Sheila Jackson, and Denise Pelletier and numerous close friends. Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl (Moody) Pelletier; two sons, Jeremiah A. Elwell, Ryan R. Pelletier, and partner Sarah Poor; four brothers, Rick Hume and wife Marlene, David Pelletier and wife Debbie, Norman Pelletier and wife Kim, Dana Pelletier and wife Connie; two sisters, Sandra Lambert and husband Larry, Brenda Owens, and husband Jim; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 4th, from 2-3 pm, followed by a memorial service at 3 pm, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, following the memorial service, there will be a procession to Larry's house where his military service will be honored, followed by a celebration of his life in his favorite place, the garage. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
