HALLOWELL - It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Albert Hall, II, known affectionately by all as Les, on January 26, 2025, following a long but brave battle with illness.
Son of Leslie A. Hall Jr and Beverly (Rollins) Hall, Les was born at the 7100th United States Air Force Hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany on April 10, 1955. As a child growing up in a military family, he spent his early years living in a variety of places, including Maine, Florida, Arizona, and Germany. His family eventually settled back in their hometown of Hallowell, ME, where he went on to graduate from Hall-Dale High School in 1973.
After high school, Les went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham in 1977. After college, he maintained a full and dedicated career as a Registered Nurse in geriatric nursing facilities. He was most proud of his employment at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta, where he truly cherished his residents and colleagues.
Les was a compassionate soul, who had a deep love for music. A self-taught musician, he spent several years performing live with friends among the Hallowell music scene. He was happiest when he had his treasured guitar in hand. He met many wonderful people through music and passed on his talent and music appreciation to his children (often including them in living room jam sessions and daytime performances at The Wharf).
A true New England sports fan, Les would often be found cheering on (or cussing out) his favorite teams with a bowl of popcorn or spicy wings in hand. He was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare special meals for his family. He had a great sense of humor, and loved to make his children roll their eyes with his many "dad jokes".
Les is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Tripp and husband Tyler Tripp, son, Johnathan Hall and partner Kaysie Dostie, grandson, Gavin Tripp, nieces Tara Shepard and Erin Poppelwell, and nephew, Scott Hall.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Leslie A. Hall, Jr., and Beverly (Rollins) Hall, his brother, Keith Hall, and his longtime partner and soulmate, Linda M. Blair.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer. We invite all those touched by Les' spirit to share their memories and photos on his memorial page at www.staplesfuneralhome.com .
