PITTSTON - We gently acknowledge the passing of Leta M. Wheelock, 70, a kind and compassionate soul who departed from this world on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Alfond Center for Health after a sudden medical event. Born on November 27, 1955,
Leta was a person of love and support, whose spirit touched all who had the privilege to
know her.
Leta's journey was one of varied passions and pursuits. She was a talented chef who guided the culinary helm. Her love for her craft was evident in every dish she made, each one a testament to her creativity and an expression of her love for those she cooked for and the friends and family she cooked for. Leta's passions extended beyond the
kitchen, to crocheting afghans, among other things for family and friends solving challenging puzzles of all types, and dancing to her favorite records, spending time with family and friends. She loved the ocean , and was passionite about animals. She used to love fishing in her younger years. Also when she was younger she spent time with horses, riding trails and loving them. Each hobby/love was an echo of her personality of compassion and love.
Above all, Leta was a pillar of strength for her family and friends, always there for others with her kind and big heart. Her love was the kind that nurtures, that supports, that always believes and never fails.
She now joins her husband Gordon, her father Raymond and one of her very best friends, Sharlene in eternal rest.
Her memory lives on in the heart of her sisters, Estelle, Star, her brother Ronnie and her niece, Kim who shared a very special bond with, her nephew Sean and her friends that love her and will cherish her always and all those whose lives that were touched by her kindness.
