Obituary

PITTSTON - Linda Sue Rose (nee' McGath), got her wings on March 15, 2024. Born on September 10, 1946, Linda was a quiet child who always had her nose in a book and loved school. In later years, she relished sharing stories of growing up in a home with four kids and their shenanigans, in an idyllic small town in Michigan. Linda and her husband of 58 years, Wally, were high school sweethearts and married on December 20, 1965 in their hometown of Berrien Springs, Michigan. Wally had enlisted in the Navy and was on a one-week leave. Early in their marriage they lived in places like Virginia, Maryland, and California. As a child, Linda spent summers at her Aunt and Uncle's house in Eddington, Maine along the mighty Penobscot. When she and Wally visited shortly after marrying, they decided one day they would live in Maine. 12 years later, Wally and Linda packed up their three children and moved to Maine. They eventually settled on 50 acres in Pittston. Linda loved her pastoral home. The peace and quiet suited her preferred pastimes: cooking, reading, word puzzles, and trivia. She was a trivia whiz. Linda was also a whiz in the kitchen. She collected hundreds of cookbooks through the years and was well known for her home-style cooking. Known as the fun mom when her kids were growing up, Linda dedicated her time to being a scout leader, a soccer mom, a snowboarding mom, and theatre mom. She loved hosting parties for these groups, and literally 'fed the neighborhood' on a weekly basis. She, along with her best friend, Pam Martin, regaled these kids with creative activities, like a lip-syncing competition, a Halloween scavenger hunt and more, keeping the troops entertained. Linda is pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Frances (nee' Lutz) McGath, her parents in-law, Otis and Edith (nee' Minnie) Rose. She leaves behind her husband Wallace Rose, daughters Shannon (Doug) Rines, Corinne (Brian) Michaud, son Adam Rose, 5 grandchildren, two (but really three, including Debbie) sisters, Sandy (Greg) Landowski, and Judy McGath Ruiz, a brother Terry (Deborah) McGath, and several beloved nieces and nephews. The family has no plans for an immediate service. She loved deeply and was beloved. We will miss our Linda Sue.
