Margaret B. Malcolm Obituary (1928

Margaret B. (Honey) Malcolm was born on 09/15/28 in Randolph, Maine, daughter of Charles E. Baker Sr. and Cyrena Mae Henderson.She married Emery Erlon Malcolm on November 1, 1947, and they shared 63 wonderful years together before his passing on October 10, 2010. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, Charles E. Baker (Bud) Jr. She attended schools in Farmingdale and then Gardiner High School. Honey then went to work at Gardiner Shoe. After her children started school she became very involved with volunteer work in their schools and the community. She was one of Gardiner's first crossing guides on busy Brunswick Avenue; she knew each child by name and they grew to know her as 'Honey.' She volunteered at Gardiner General Hospital Auxillary for years, was very involved in Gardiner Jaycees/Jayceettes, Sports Booster Club of Gardiner, and as such, helped numerous times to shovel the white lines at Quimby Field so that a scheduled football game could take place, only then to work the game in the concession stand. Once her children attended school full time, she worked at Butler Twins and then Key Bank until she and Emery retired.Honey was a member of Highland Avenue United Methodist Church for 64 years, serving in numerous capacities and positions. She baked countless pies for church suppers, as well as numerous desserts to sell at the annual Christmas Fair. Honey loved helping people, family friends and neighbors alike. They knew they could count on her for whatever was needed. She was an exemplary role model to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she cherished. With Honey, it was always family first.Honey is survived by her four children, Lynn Malcolm Gerard and husband Harold, Patricia Malcolm Martin and husband Wally, Curtis Emery Malcolm and wife Cindy, and Jaye Malcolm Trimm and husband Artie Crocker. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laurie Lynn Fisher, Tammy Marks and husband Tim, Jamie P. Gerard and partner Rachel Fiske, Tag E. Martin and wife Kristin, Chad Martin and wife Amy, Walter C. O'Driscoll and wife Karen, Kalem C. Malcolm, Cortany M. Tinker and husband David, Emily K. Bell and husband Daniel, Michael T. Trimm and partner Shannon Bragg, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Pauline I. Cottle, Linwood A. Baker and Katherine L. Malcolm, as well as her sisters-in-law Theo Turcotte, Minnie Pond and Madolyn Upton.Visiting hours will be 2:004:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Staples Funeral, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Highland Avenue United Methodist Church, 35 Highland Avenue, Gardiner, followed by committal at Oak Grove Cemetery, Gardiner. There will be a reception following the graveside committal at the Gardiner Sportsmans' Club, Cobbossee Avenue, Gardiner.
